62. List z Nowej Zelandii.

Dziś otrzymaliśmy list od naszych kolegów z Nowej Zelandii. Wspólnie wraz z kolegami z USA i Nowej Zelandii na ePals pracujemy nad filmami o naszych szkołach. Nasi koledzy z New Zealand są Maorysami. Dobrze jest dowiedzieć się jak wyglądają szkoły w innych częściach świata - Nowa Zelandia leży przecież na Antypodach.
Oto treść listu:

Hello there!
We are a class of 28 students aged 7 to 9 years old. Some of us will turn 10 soon. We are in room Totara at Te Puru school in New Zealand. Totara is the name of a tree in New Zealand. All our classes are named after trees.

Our school is right on the beach. The beach is apart of our playground. We are allowed on it as long as we don’t go in the water. We have a pirate ship playground and a big field. Our school is painted allsorts of colours – every wall is different. We have 6 classes and 140 kids go to our school.

Te Puru is a small place. We only have a dairy. Te Puru means ‘the plug hole’ in Maori (New Zealands native language). It is called the plug hole because a river runs through our village. It used to get blocked with trees (like a plug) and the whole place would flood. This doesn’t happen much anymore.

Te Puru is not far from a larger town called Thames. Thames has lots more shops and around 8000 people. We live on the Thames Coast. The bush runs along behind the coast.

New Zealand is a smallish country at the bottom of the world. Our native culture is the Maori people. But we have lots of different people living in New Zealand. At the moment it is summer and we are all enjoying swimming at the beach!

We look forward to making a dvd about the world we live in for you. We also look forward to hearing from you!

Love from
Room Totara
